2012年伦敦残奥会的开幕式
当地时间8月29日晚8时30分，2012年伦敦残奥会开幕式在“伦敦碗”掀开大幕。未来的11天里，来自全世界的4200名残疾人运动员将向梦想和503枚金牌发起冲击。
这场名为“启蒙运动”的开幕式，共分“米兰达””、“英国女王”、“运动精神”以及“传承力量”等十一幕演出，有3000名成年残疾人和100名残疾儿童参加表演，其中包括伤残士兵和曾经参加残奥赛事的运动员。
国女王伊丽莎白二世随后在雨伞灯光的辉映下现身“伦敦碗”，她也是历史上第一位共同参加了奥运会和残奥会开幕式的英国君主。
霍金献上开篇词
作为英国著名剧作家莎士比亚名著《暴风雨》中的主人公米兰达，她成为开幕式表演的绝对主角，她以“向导”身份带领观众进行了14分钟的科学神奇之旅，体验科学带来的时空交换。其中包括眺望宇宙的最深处，在思想的海洋里畅游，“中途”还在伊萨克·牛顿的花园里小憩，最后抵达千变万化的当代伦敦城。
而著名物理学家斯蒂芬·霍金为残奥会送上了充满探索精神的开篇词：“自从文明的曙光降临大地，人类便孜孜不倦地探求世界内在的规律。天地之为天地，何也？天地之所以存在，何也？即便我们找到了无所不能的世界万全定律，
那也不过是一套毫无生气的繁文缛节。究竟是什么将生命的火种点亮？留下整个宇宙供人类冥想？”
中国队派出282名运动员
本届残奥会设视力残疾、肢体残
疾、智力残疾三大残疾类别共20个大项、21个分项、503个小项。在北京奥运会上夺得四枚金牌的张立新引领中国代表团入场。中国队将参加15个大项的比赛。主要冲金点集中在田径、游泳、举重和乒乓球上。其中，盲人足球、盲人门球、女子轮椅篮球、男子坐式排球这四个集体项目是首次通过预选赛获得残奥会参赛资格。
伦敦奥运会开幕式时间
中英两国的标准时差为8小时，即英国的当地时间比中国的北京时间晚8小时。但英国在每年的三月底到十月底实行夏时制，比格林威治标准时间快一小时。那时伦敦与中国的时差为7小时。开幕式在七月,所以时间差就为7个小时了，伦敦奥组委宣布2012年第30届夏季奥运会将于2012年7月27日晚20时12分(伦敦当地时间)开幕，于2012年8月12日(星期日)闭幕。此时开幕式北京时间为2012年7月28日的凌晨3点12分。因为中国的时间比伦敦的快七个小时，所以一定是2012年7月28号的凌晨3点12分。

TheQueenwaswelcomedbySirPhilipCraven,PresidentoftheInternationalParalympicCommittee,beforetheunionjackwascarriedinbyrepresentativesofthearmedforces.
