1、cost的用法

　　1、及物动词用法：

　　（1）花费；价格为；值：

　　例句：It must cost a good deal to live here.

　　住在这里一定要花很多钱的。

　　（2）使付出；使损失，使失去：

　　例句：Careless driving cost him his life.

　　开车不小心使他丧了命。

　　（3）需(努力)；费(事)：

　　例句：Courtesy costs little and means much.

（2）as … as

as … as的用法前面的章节有讲过，今天不重复了。在今天的文章的，as much as 可以看为“和…一样多”。连起来as much as he used to，used to后面省略了earn，这个小分句就是跟他原来赚的钱一样多。但前面又多了一个half，表示一半，比如half an hour就是半个钟。所以这个句子意思就是他只能赚原来的一半钱了。

这里用的是一半half来修饰后面的as much as，同样可以使用倍数来修饰，比如twice，three times等。表示倍数的时候注意，就是一般超过2倍后，就可以使用times来清晰的表达倍数关系。当然也可以使用以下单词来表示对应的倍数：

twice 二倍；triple 三倍；decuple 十倍；centuplicate 百倍；

方便起见，一般3倍的时候就可以使用times来表达了。

而times作为time的复数，可以表示“时代”，比如：ancient times 上古时代，Times Square 时代广场等

（3）from now on

from now on的意思是“从现在起，从此”。用来作时间状语。常见的还有form today， from this week等。

（4）补充昨天的spend，花费

昨天我们有讲spend一些大家不知道的用法，常规的表示花费，我一笔代过了。结果有粉丝来问，spend和cost的区别。

cost做动词也表示花费，有的同学会误用，比如有同学想表达我花了10块钱：

I cost 10 Yuan. 这就用错了，因为cost的主语必须是物，不能是人。

It cost me 10 Yuan.表示这个东西花了我10块钱。这才是cost的正确用法。或者使用spend来说：I spend 10 Yuan on it.
