difficulty的用法有：名词或复数，接indoingsth，接ofdoingsth。
1、关于是否用作可数名词和是否用复数形式：
(1)表示抽象意义的“困难”，是不可数名词。如：
Badplanningwillleadtodifficultylater.
计划不周会给以后带来困难。
Refertoyourdictionaryincaseofdifficulty.
如果遇到难题，请参考你的字典。
(2)表示具体意义的“困难”（如难事、难点、难题等），是可数名词。如：
Hereisadifficultyforustogetover.
这儿有一个困难要我们克服。
Hemetwithmanydifficultieswhentravelling.
他在旅行进遇到过不少伤脑筋的事。

2、表示“做某事有困难”，其后不接todosth，而接(in)doingsth，其中的in含有while之意，在口语中通常可以省略；由于这样用的difficulty意思比较抽象，因此不可数，不用复数形式，也不连用不定冠词。如：

这些诗我感到很难理解。
